ProjectBase:Young Public
ProjectBase: Young Public provide activities specifically for 0 to 25 years, and is delivered both formally and informally through ProjectBase, schools, colleges and community settings. ProjectBase invests in projects that transform the quality of arts education in schools and works in partnership with other organisations to guarantee that all young people have the opportunity to experience the visual arts and to engage in interesting learning opportunities.
ProjectBase: Young Public breaks down into four further areas:
- Art Ambassadors
- BaseSwap
- Arts Awards
- Local Education Arts Partnership (LEAP)
Art Ambassadors
Arts Ambassadors is a peer led scheme and aims to give young people a voice for the visual arts. It facilitates opportunities and training for children and young people to be involved in the development and delivery of ProjectBase programmes. The Art Ambassadors scheme creates an ongoing opportunity to experience artworks, interact with artists, take part in practical activities, workshops and forums, collaborate with other young people, and lead in consultation and research. The scheme also supports teachers, trainee teachers and youth support workers to lead in these partnerships and to encourage best practice and participation.
BaseSwap
BaseSwap will host activities and events for ProjectBase’s young public to share and exchange opinions, thoughts and ideas about the visual arts. BaseSwap will take place in galleries and non gallery sites during the ProjectBase exhibition.

LEAP (Local Education Arts Partnerships)
LEAP’s involve local educational organisations working in partnership with ProjectBase and other arts organisations to explore the value, meaning and sustainability of arts and education partnerships.
The BUILD programme is the first ProjectBase LEAP:
BUILD
BUILD is the first LEAP project and was developed from action research undertaken with Art Ambassadors at Cornwall College Camborne. The Ambassadors made ProjectBase aware of their need to have regular and direct contact with professional artists. The format of the BUILD Programme is designed to meet these needs. Ambassadors from the College are actively involved in selecting the resident artist and in all decision making processes involved in the ongoing development of the residency programme.
The residency programme is realised through a partnership with Cornwall College Camborne, Creative Skills and ProjectBase. The residencies offer continuing professional development to artists and artist educators living in Cornwall. The programme also provides degree and pre-degree Fine Art students at the College with valuable experience and opportunity to work closely alongside practising local artists and hosts a series of lectures and seminars at the College for both students and public.
